iPhone 4: Because AT&T shouldn't take all the blame for your dropped calls.
| Quote: | | Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases. |
Apple's official response: don't hold it that way or buy a case.
Just awesome. |

My favorite part was the subsequent collage of use pictures illustrating the many, many ways a user can be naturally holding the phone to cause the disturbance - and almost all of them have to do with using the phone's standout features, like games, taking pictures or face time.
"Apple is the KING of UX!" Lawl.
Edit: here's a crappy, updated version of the collage:

because it's just too damn hard to put the antenna in a place people wouldn't naturally put their hands over _________________ 88 NPH |

this collage suggests that whoever designed the iphone is lefthanded.

To be fair, it really is damn hard to find a spot on the iPhone 4 that users wouldn't naturally put their hands over. |

Actually, the phone is designed in such a way that a left-handed person cannot hold it without covering up the antenna. In theory, the circled area should be uncovered -- i.e. it can't be held with your left hand if it is to function optimally.

but all those people are covering up the antenna as they poke at it with their right hand! obviously, if you hold it in your right hand so you can poke at it with your left, you are fine. why would a left-handed person be covering the antenna?
....oh wait....you mean like, to make phone calls or something?
..........does anyone actually do that with an iphone? _________________ aka: neverscared! |
