Off the top of my head, those are ten women's names—Olga Holtz, increasingly, and Carolyn Porco—twelve women's names I regularly hear mentioned as sources of inspiration, idols who have led and/or are leading others to enter their fields. And that's just in mathematics and the physical sciences. |
So women have lots of role models, what's the problem? |
All of those women are on record about the rampant misogyny in their fields. |
I suspect that to a woman they were also rampant misandrists. I realize that in today's world that's OK, so what more can be said? |

| I would have included Jocelyn Bell Burnell in that list. She was cheated out of a Nobel prize by a cheap snub but she is widely distinguished and regarded as one of the 20th century's finest minds. |
