It only matters if you wish to make a favorable impression regarding your intellectual capabilities on the people of the forum. Especially THIS forum. There are several things that the local forum goers react strongly to and poor grammar/punctuation is one of those things. It can be tolerated on a minor and infrequent basis, but if it is ignored intentionally and regularly, you're going to suffer some harsh criticism.

There's some really good stuff out there that is so different from the typical anime and cartooning that you see on tv in the States - you'll miss out on a lot if you just lump everything from Asia together and label it "overused."

| The thing is that it's more of a cultural thing than just a recent trend. In Asia the manga/anime/manwah style has been in use and evolving for DECADES to the point that it is THE pop culture style, the same way that superhero comics in the US are. Only recently has the style jumped the pond in a big way, though. It's not that the style is overused, it's simply becoming more common stateside. |

What's that supposed to mean? I'm confused. I tried to read his posts and I had a hard time understanding them because he was blatantly ignoring easy-to-fix punctuation and spelling mistakes.
I'm not being an elitist if I ask someone to take a little more time in doing the bare minimum so that I can at least understand the point they're trying to get across. Nor am I looking down my nose at them because of this.
I could see if people were nit-picking. But his posts were excruciating to get through to understand his points. I don't need perfect punctuation, spelling, or grammar. I just need to be able to read it without crossing my eyes.
