I am endlessly fascinated by this ongoing (bizarre) reinterpretation of capitalism as being not merely consistent with, but an actual extension of Christian principles. I mean, I can understand people mining the text to justify things like homophobia, but the idea that Jesus' teachings are used as a bat to beat down attacks on the accumulation of personal wealth is... mindblowing.

I have a hard time wrapping my brain around it.

Ask my boyfriend, I had my face in my hands during most of it. Though I found the counter opinion hysterical. And the look on his face that they cut to while people were talking... well it was pretty great. Picture worth a thousand words and all, words like "my brain is leaking out of my ears from just hearing you talk".
