Idiotic question:

since when did IslamISM become the term? One would never say, "Hi, I'm a Christianist!", it's simply improper syntax... and so is "islamism".

Is there now a fundamental difference between Islam and "Islamism", or something? I'd never really understood why this new term emerged.

I only recently heard "Islamist," and the only thing I can think is that it applies to the radical Muslim terrorists and militants.
