Come on, people. They're not called "thongs" or "flipflops" or anything like that. They're called RUBBER SLIPPERS, but you can call them "slippers" for short. If you're old, you may call them RUBBER ZORIS.

Flip-flops are for keeping your feet cool in the summer, and have a prongy bit that goes between your toes, or a bit that goes across your toes.

Sandals are strappy things that are horrible.

I must admit being very amused at the "asslaces" moniker ("arselaces" for the british spelling nazis). I'm more familair with the term "buttfloss", but that might be only for g-strings.

before i was in high school, flipflops were ALWAYS "thongs"... it still feels weird to not call them that, and usually i don't bother to not say thongs.. i figure people know what i'm talking about regardless.
