Recent observations have pretty much ruled it out, though. There's not enough gravity to collapse everything back together again. The distances between galaxies will, over the course of the Universe's lifetime, continue to increase on average until they are too distant to be observed from their neighbors. And still they will grow apart.

Heard Brian Cox on the radio this morning explaining expanding of space-time in a really nice way I'd not heard before. Basically, things can stand still while the metric of distance increases between them.

I thought the formation of a true vacuum or the approaching of some zero energy state were the real fear of an expanding universe.

Whatever the case may be, anymore, whenever I read or hear "scary physics stuff", I just think to myself "Well, we've been wrong about stuff before . . . "

Dear Guy Who Just Made My Burrito:
Have you ever been to earth?
Quote:
On earth, we use the word “burrito” to describe a tortilla filled with things you eat. Pretty simple stuff, and I’m surprised you at least got that part right. My burrito was, in fact, filled with food. In this, you and I agree and are friends. But this is also where my lifelong hatred begins for you and anyone else whose brain has been repeatedly scrubbed with the same mixture of bleach and Pop Rocks as yours has. Because that should have killed you, but left you around long enough to do what you did to me today. Let me explain:

You’re an idiot.

Let me further explain:

Burritos are eaten from one end to the other. So that means when you assemble a burrito with motherfucking ZONES of ingredients going that direction, you create a disgusting experience for the burrito’s end user. When you make a burrito, you should put the ingredients in layers lengthwise. That way, every bite has AT LEAST A FUCKING CHANCE of getting at least two types of ingredients, and there is little chance of becoming almost hopelessly trapped in a goddamned cilantro cavern.

it's about about two years old according to Tumblr
which is where and when I originally saw it, oddly enough

people have started passing it around again, so it might break 100k notes soon

aaaand now that I've looked at that, I see that the guy who originally wrote it has been posting about some recent attention it's gotten from various aggregate sites after some minor update or another that was made to it about a week ago that I'm too lazy to compare to the old version to see what was actually changed

Around late summer/early fall of 2012 I took an effective hiatus form the interwebs for like 2-3 months. I had three people on my facebook that shared it today.

i don't think these people properly appreciate how difficult it is to make a burrito with zones like that. it's a _skill_, man.

You’d better watch out,
You’d better not cry,
You’d better not pout;
I’m telling you why.
Santa Claus is tapping
Your phone.

He’s bugging your room,
He’s reading your mail,
He’s keeping a file
And running a tail.
Santa Claus is tapping
Your phone.

He hears you in the bedroom,
Surveills you out of doors,
And if that doesn’t get the goods,
Then he’ll use provocateurs.

So — you mustn’t assume
That you are secure.
On Christmas Eve
He’ll kick in your door.
Santa Claus is tapping
Your phone.

No shop on this one, just one degree of separation. I knew who the mutual friend was before I even checked, since he was the best man for Hank at their wedding:
