well, and then you have things like french, that doesn't even pronounce half the letters.

i think we should all just go with sign language.

Just finished setting up an pi 3 based retro console for my little brother's Christmas giftening.
It was pretty involved, with a few surprising potholes, but I think I've gotten things set up to the point where it's basically just a console that boots right to the game selection screen now.

It's too bad Nintendo didn't want his money, though. He could have just bought an NES Classic if they'd let him.

Dammit, having actually completed a Raspberry Pi project for once has given me the itch.

I wanna make a radio that records shows from OTA FM stations, so I don't have to miss my favorite stuff on NPR just because I'm working at the moment. There are cheap USB dongles that can do this, and software-defined radio can be used to tune to the local affiliate. The decoded stream can be saved as an audio file and cataloged with the right script.

I wanna make a wireless file server. The Pi 3 has built-in wifi and four USB ports. I could get an old portable harddrive or use a few spare thumb drives/uSD cards for storage.

And with the file server, why not wifi Kodi boxes for the TVs?

And with the same SDL radio dongle for the digital radio recorder, why not get into radio astronomy?

Ah, but this is getting dangerously close to the dreaded Ham Radio, a black hole hobby from whence there is no escape.

I'm rejiggering the lighting because I'm not convinced the PAR at the bottom will be there when it's filled with water. Trying to work something out with downward-pointing bulbs rather than omni-directional+reflector.

It's over, that's all what matters. Now the new year stuffness and we can go back to daily life, which I, for one, enjoy much better.

Everyone gets one. I'd take lane merging, if you know what I mean.
