i have no idea where to put this.

i am trying to find a list of occupation codes for some government surveys. i've got a list of grouped occupation codes, but i need to know what the specific ones mean. so, for example, under service occupations (recode=0 Cool

, i have
433-439, 443-444 food service
445-447 health service
448-449, 453-455 cleaning and building service
456-459, 463-469 personal service

now you can see, those 3-digit codes seem to cover a lot of ground. 'food service' could be anything from busboy to waiter to cook, i suppose. and i suspect that each specific category has different health risks, but if i want to relate health risk to occupation, i need to know what each specific code means. so i can't just look at 'all food service' if the only group at special risk is dishwashers.

so i'm digging though government websites trying to find code lists, and i hit on a manual for the people who fill out these surveys, and i plunge into it excitedly, figuring they _must_ have a code list somewhere (they don't).

and i hit on their example for how to find something in the index. their example?
