Things to know:

1) Encouraging makes your hero more good. Punishment makes them more evil.
2) Your voice does sometimes make a difference to your hero. You can command them to do various things, but they'll ignore you most of the time...
3) You can fight in the arena at level 11 against other heroes
4) You can join a guild at level 12. You can even start your own guild, which my girlfriend found out by accident, and now we're both apparently in the "happy guild"

Yeah, his health was getting low, so I kept telling him to heal himself. He finally listened when I went with: "Heal yourself, me dammit!"
