None of which has anything to do with the fact that you are one of the bullies that is facilitating a bullying culture in America! It's all very well and good to sniff and adjust your monocle, but in reality you are exactly who these shows are aimed at.
Not only that, but I am pretty confidant that your posts on this forum fit the exact criteria for a terrible human disaster porn reality TV show, so we'll see how high and mighty you are after the first episode of 'What Stupid Shit Is Darq Going To Say Next?' _________________ Once, at a local NOW meeting where I was the only male among about a dozen women, a feminism trivia contest was held. Also, I love Hilary Duff, not Miley Cyrus, I've never seen Jersey Shore, but I have read quite a lot of literature about it, being a rabid consumer of pop culture.
I love American trash reality TV, mostly focused around the wackier ones, i.e. Momma's Boys and True Beauty. _________________ Once, at a local NOW meeting where I was the only male among about a dozen women, a feminism trivia contest was held. I came in third. |

It's not being a bully for calling something reprehensible exactly what it is.
And um...the only reality show I actually watch is RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had to endure Jersey Shore because other people were watching it in the same room I was playing games on the PC. _________________ ...if a single leaf holds the eye, it will be as if the remaining leaves were not there.

My apologies if that offended your delicate senses. I just figured if we're gonna have all these flame wars I might as well use them for toast... |

Just out of curiosity, how many of you would let your children watch that show? |

This is tangential to the aspect of culture that you guys are discussing, but our musical culture is pretty rich considering how young we are. Blues, jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop and rock and roll all started in the United States. Yes, currently the US puts out a lot of shit on the airwaves, but we also still put out a lot of good stuff too. |

The blues were stolen from Britain by US musicians after hearing Cream featuring Eric Clapton. |

Firefly died and Jersey Shore lives...there are countless other examples
BTW I should mention I've been thinking this since I re-read Walden last week...to put things more accurately (I was kinda upset last night but it had nothing to do with anything here) it's not so much as I feel that there is no American culture as much as it seems that we've done a great job of smothering and diluting what little we've developed.
I stopped watching MTV over a decade ago because it would leave me feeling dirty for enjoying. It was during some stupid beach house contest and I started thinking "What am I watching? A celebration of vanity?" I felt like I was becoming less of a person by watching and allowing myself to be entertained but such a shallow spectacle. I want to be proven wrong about our country's culture but I can't but feel that it's on life support at best. _________________ ...if a single leaf holds the eye, it will be as if the remaining leaves were not there.
