If she's got standards, why is she wearing those boots? But I kid the Sinfest Anonymous Shapely Woman(tm).
Poor Slick forgets that some women have expressed at least a mild interest in him before. He could have at least followed up with "And is there a possibility that I meet or could perhaps work up to meeting those standards?" OSLT. What's he got to lose? Then again, that would throw off the pacing of a four-panel strip.
Ultimately, Slick sabotages himself because, subconsciously, he can never forget that he really wants only 'Nique. |

If I had the guts, and the certainty that it would end after the fourth 'panel' so to speak, I would actually do this to some random chick in reality. I think it'd be hilarious.
But you have to be able to walk away thus letting the joke end. I have the feeling If you did that someone and then just wandered off they'd be like "Hey! What was that!?" |

Slick finally learnt that the only way he can stand a chance with an attractive woman is that she has low enough standards. _________________ “I believe in benevolent dictatorship provided I am the dictator”

His survey questions bias her to "yes" answers... they represent positive social expectations (you would think better of someone who said yes and might think less of someone who said no). He should really be asking things like, "Do you think you're too good for most men?" That would bias her to "no" answers.

I saw it jumped on its own in the first panel, but he has it in in his hands in the second which implies he took it off and held it in front of him in a gentlemanly manner. Especially since he puts it back on when he walks away. |

Maybe when his hat flew off he caught it as it was coming back down. |

Where's the benefit of a doubt? Slick can be a gentleman when he's sufficiently motivated to be. I think. |

I only said "maybe."
Besides, in the history of hats jumping off the heads of comic strip characters, has any other character caught a hat on the way back down? I would be faintly surprised.
But Slick could do it, because he's just that cool. |
