it's weird to think that these are samples from 1994. anyone who played the games remembers the music because it was fit right to the mood of the level and was crazy advanced and different

Oh, there's too many to mention.

Um.

To start out with, Simon's theme from Castlevania 4. The first song you hear in the game and it's amazing.

B.O.B. to the SNES, this game had a really great mix of funk and pop. Space City.

I'd say without lying too much, the entire soundtrack from Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals. Some samples: 1 2 3 4

The intro music to Wild Arms to the PS1.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 has probably one of the best soundtracks in a PS2 game. The main menu theme and of course Ozar Midrashim. Brilliant.

Too much awesome music to name, really, but those are some that stands out. Seriously gonna have to make a list.

Also, Homeworld's rendition of Adagio for Strings is absolutely beautiful.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Intro to Kingdom Hearts, the first one. It was super catchy and coupled with the tripy dream, I was hooked. Which was good because the first few levels were booooring.

I don't know if these count since its not TECHNICALLY a real video game just a video-game themed/styled webcomic. But I love a lot of the tunes on Homestuck's MS Paint Adventures. In particular the newest Alternia Bound album. These are all pretty good.

Back in the early nineties my friend Dob had a bunch of games all on one disc, freeware or whatever I guess, back on the old Amiga 500. One game featured Quasimodo, and the theme tune was hella catchy - it's lyric simply ran 'Quasimodo is a nice man, ...' ad infinitum. Anyone know it? Can't find it on youtubes.

I've never really been a console gamer, always been pc games for me and since my income has always been relatively low my heyday for getting games was the 'Shareware' era of the 80s and 90s hence most of my gaming experience relates to games of this era.

One game I quite enjoyed and had a good soundtrack was Vinyl Goddess from Mars I can't find any clean-cut links to actual songs sadly but there are a couple of videos of gameplay that show some of the music.

And of course Jazz Jackrabbit 2 had some pretty good level tunes for a platform game at the time.
