The convention I was taught growing up states that multiplication is done before division, PEMDAS. If 48÷2(9+3)= were instead written as (48÷2)(9+3)= or 48÷(2(9+3))= then there would be no confusion.
Actually mouse said this back on page 1:

| Realistically, you are demonstrating what I said. Conventions and all. |

When I was taught PEMDAS it was parenthesis, exponents, multiplication and division (as one unit), addition and subtraction (as one unit). So when you get to multiplication/division (or addition/subtraction for that matter) you go from left to right as the problem is written since they share the same priority in the order of operations. |

-The question itself is inherently flawed - it is obvious whoever wrote it left off a set of braces.
-Left to right is standard.
-Reverse Polish is so much better
-As written, should be interpretted as this:
-If there's ever a debate like this, try seeing what Wolfram|Alpha says. Seriously, those people know what they're doing. _________________ “Yields falsehood when preceded by its quotation”

This shit is popping up everywhere, even in my goddamn soccerforum. I'm seriously getting pissed off by this shit.
My beautiful, sweet math slandered into a internet-meme. This is disgusting, have those people no shame? _________________ Auf, Matrosen, die Anker gelichtet,

Of course, we have shame.
We have so much of it that 'what's a little more gonna matter?'
It's like feeding 15 stray cats in your backyard. Are you really going to notice any difference if there are sixteen? |

Depends, are the 15 gonna devour the 16th one?
