I sometimes wonder if it's overreaching to blame most obesity on a single macronutrient, when there are multiple possibilities and even some weirder explanations out there - but the circumstantial evidence for the negative effects of excess dietary sugars with fructose, particularly HFCS, is growing, despite some healthy criticism along the way, as well as a healthy selection of cranks in opposition.

Human studies instead of rodent studies would go a long way toward quieting some critics. Also, my eyes are starting to glaze over reading abstracts and papers discussing lipolysis of in vivo murine adipocytes (or in normal human-speak, live mouse fat cells releasing their fatty stores to the bloodstream) and keeping track of the various acronyms for glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate.
