So I'm trying to contact an old friend from school. This is because I have a favour to ask him, but also because we were very good friends, and i'm sorry we lost contact. We last talked, must be nearly 5-6 years ago. I wasn't a great person when we lost contact, and I don't blame him.
So the only contact I have for him is his work. I phone up and he's off sick, but taking messages, so I leave my mobile number with his secretary. He texts me at about 6pm with the following:
Steve. It's *********. Thats really strange as i was thinking about you just the othe day. Whats your email address? Love to all
Does that strike anyone else as weird? Wouldn't he phone? I texted back with my email and saying I'd love to catch up on the phone. Is it because he's ill? Just not want to talk to me? :-/ What are your collective thoughts as to what I should do? |

You already gave him your email and said you'd like to talk to him. Maybe he wants to scope you out first and make sure you're not well, you said you weren't a great person the last he saw you... maybe he's being cautious? Not much you can do right now, the ball is in his court. _________________ "Her kisses left something to be desired -- the rest of her. " |

I think he likes you but isn't ready to go all the way quite yet.
Textual intercourse would be safer than any aural sex that could occur. _________________

I don't know what he's like, but I prefer writing to speaking. Perhaps he's the same. _________________ I've got to start listening to those quiet, nagging doubts. |

| As others said, he probably is unsure how the conversation might go and probably doesn't feel the mental energy to pick up the phone. He says, "love to all" so he is making overtures, I think. Just give him your e-mail, write a message or two, then try to call him again sometime. |

um...he's out sick. he might have laryngitis or something else that makes talking difficult.
sounds like he's willing to make contact - go ahead and email him. _________________ aka: neverscared! |

Residence phone might be a bit much for him if he's not sure of you.
Sometimes phoning from work is dicey as a matter of company policiy.
Accept his email offer and let him explain his phone position during the email exchange. If there's a real reason for no phone, he'll tell you, I'm sure. _________________ A government's principal occupation lies in curtailing and eliminating the natural freedoms of its citizens and then flimflamming them into paying for the service. ....Thorax |

Phone him!!! You have his number now that he has texted you. I got a bizarre call a month ago from an old friend, same shit but it was me thinking about him rather than the other way round.
btw It was actually good to hear from each other. |
