Winter is coming

Does this look like the face of an upset pony to you?

You're a mean one, Rainbow Dash...

This horse is more adorable that many of the other adorable horses on this show.

She can even hold her own against Butterquiet:

Oddly, not everybody is as taken with her:

Tree Hugger has righteous eyebrows

Since I last posted in this thread I've done the following pony-related stuff

* attended a pony convention and saw lots of nerds
* painted some ponies but I'm not going to post those
* had a relationship with someone I met through said pony paintings
* art streams n stuff
* used a Fluttershy button as a belt buckle
* "cosplayed" Luna
* noticed that PMVs are happiness
* downloaded a couple thousand more fanarts
* read more fanfic

Quote:
The Arimaspi were a legendary people of northern Scythia who lived in the foothills of the Riphean Mountains, variously identified with the Ural Mountains or the Carpathians.[1] All tales of their struggles with the gold-guarding griffins in the Hyperborean lands near the cave of Boreas, the North Wind (Geskleithron), had their origin in a lost work by Aristeas, reported in Herodotus.

The Arimaspi were described by Aristeas of Proconnesus in his lost archaic poem Arimaspea. Proconnesus is a small island in the Sea of Marmora near the mouth of the Black Sea, well situated for hearing travellers' tales of regions far north of the Black Sea. Aristeas narrates in the course of his poem that he was "wrapt in Bacchic fury" when he travelled to the north and saw the Arimaspians, as reported by Herodotus:

Quote:
This Aristeas, possessed by Phoibos, visited the Issedones; beyond these (he said) live the one-eyed Arimaspoi, beyond whom are the Grypes that guard gold, and beyond these again the Hyperboreoi, whose territory reaches to the sea. Except for the Hyperboreoi, all these nations (and first the Arimaspoi) are always at war with their neighbors.[2]

Arimaspi and griffins remained stock images associated with the outlands of the north: the Aeschylan Prometheus Bound (ca 415 BC?), describing the wanderings of Io, notes that she is not to pass through the north, among the Arimaspi and griffins, but southward.[3] Herodotus, "Father of History", admits the fantastic allure of the edges of the known world: "The most outlying lands, though, as they enclose and wholly surround all the rest of the world, are likely to have those things which we think the finest and the rarest." (Histories iii.116.1) Ignoring the scepticism of Herodotus, Strabo and Pliny's Natural History perpetuated the fables about the northern people who had a single eye in the center of their foreheads and engaged in stealing gold from the griffins, causing disagreements between the two groups.

100th episode Background Pony special edition 2-minute teaser!

Octavia: "Do we know what they're on about?"
Apple Bloom: "The way they're huddled up like that, Ah'd say it's either a friendship problem... or a monster attack! :D"
Octavia: "A monster attack? Blast! I'm performing at the ceremony this afternoon, and I still haven't sorted out what to play. How am I going to practice with a monster invading Ponyville?"
Sweetie Belle: "Maybe it's just a friendship problem, and it'll all be cleared up in a half an hour or so."

Cast list for the background ponies featured in the 100th episode, plus their official names.

"Doctor" is canon.
"Lebowski Pony" is canon.
Derpy is Muffins.
Lyra is now show canon as well as toy canon, and her BEST FRIEND Bon Bon is Bon Bon... or is she? How will her BEST FRIEND handle her BEST FRIEND's dark secret? Can the two remain BEST FRIENDS when all is revealed?

So

Remember about three years ago when I linked to a 20-minute symphony inspired by a fictional symphony in a pony fanfic?
I do, but I'll be damned before going back to find the post for it.

Anyway, someone else has created their own version. So now we have another 20+ minute symphony written for a fanfiction.
Is the world big enough for this?

because apparently there was an episode with Big Mac in a dress for some reason and it was played for laughs but not necessarily in a transphobic way but some people were hypersensitive about it? that's the narrative I got. I haven't seen the episode yet, so maybe it really was bad, idk

Since I haven't seen the episode nor have I directly seen the complaints of the people who freaked out about it, all I'll say is,

the fandom has a much higher-than-average proportion of trans people (at least if you're looking at the people who are into it enough to go to conventions) and so the creators should be especially careful about that

AJ's adventure in Manehattan meant she couldn't team up with Apple Bloom in the Sisterhooves Social games, so Big Mac posed as her "long lost cousin Orchard Blossom" to give his little sister a chance to compete.
I didn't pick up on anything mean-spirited or disrespectful about it, but then again I don't really have a horse in that race.

I've never watched this show before. Think I'll give it a whirl. From what I've seen, the animation is fantastic. Very Happy
