Looking for some top-shelf fanfics? Since the Pony Fiction Vault is no longer being updated, some EQD pre-readers and company have created a successor in The Royal Canterlot Library. It features one story per week and includes interviews with the authors, so you can see just how cah-razy you have to be to write well-received fanfics about magical talky horses.

Do you draw in traditional media? Andy Price, penciler/inker and sometime cover artist on the official IDW comics has put together a Copic-oriented color guide for the Mane 6 + Spike and the royal sisters. Also, if you haven't gone through is gallery yet to see his art (including MLP fanart prior to working on the actual comic), go check it out. This guy is a master!

A literal vault of ponyfics would be the best thing to happen to the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

As long as they weren't in a proprietary format.

they almost never are

__

aaaaand the final episode of Rainbow Dash Presents has been released

well, besides the rather ambitious Equestria Girls parody they have planned

this would have been a bit anticlimactic as a grand finale
but

Chin up! Don't bet on sinking ships because you've got to be more grand!
You've got to think ahead and carry out the things you've planned!

This is why Haymaker is one of my favorite brony musicians.

And Dreatos one of my favorite brony artists.

it's like G1 and G3 meet a certain category of mlp OC designs and CGI animation

I swear
they even use the same squeaky muttering crowd interaction voices as G3
and the cupcakes-are-stolen-by-a-thing thing is also very G3
but the 'castle of adventure' thing is more G1

I am so hyped about this

FILLY FUNTASIA FILLY FUNTASIA YEAH!

FUNTASIA DAILY http://www.funtasiadaily.com/ YEAH!

FANARTS ARE A GO (not by me, yet, but I'll draw some tomorrow)

YEAH YEAH!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOHOOHOO~

okay honestly their lack of nostrils terrifies me

Saw the trailer for it last week. It definitely has elements of Me-Too-ness and the character designs are rather... undisciplined. The voice acting is also flat, devoid of nuance, and unconvincing.
And it has the same problem that almost all current CGI TV shows have; the world around the characters is empty and dead because it takes too long to animate and render all the extra background characters and environmental interactions that would make it seem real. The solution to this technical limitation is apparently just to not put anybody in the background at all, ever.
Kung Fu Panda suffered from this tremendously, even to the point of looking like it was animated with a bunch of statues at times. TMNT 2012 might have the absolute emptiest NYC ever, but at least they made up for it with their designs, comic-like splash frames, and visually innovative scene transitions. Don't even get me started on Beware The Batman.
It's interesting to go back and watch what ReBoot was doing in the ancient 1990s and see how they handled background characters and environmental movement. With much greater limitations on hardware, software, and even animation techniques they still managed to create a world that seemed alive. That requires a lot of effort and skill in terms of visual design, camera angles, and tough decisions during production about what to put in and what to leave out. I just don't think modern CGI TV shows are making this effort.

But the biggest strike against Filly is that it's writing way below the level of FiM. While they're both cartoons about magical talky-horses for youngsters, Filly is definitely not drawing the important lessons from FiM's success. They're obviously aiming for toddlers, and toddlers only. This is one of those kids' shows that would be painful to sit through.
