so same old same old - lots of promises with no basis in reality.

If you think of his bid as a way to get his name out there so he can run in 2016, it makes sense. He knows he'll never get elected, but shit like that gets people's attention, boosts your right-wing cred for later and helps set the tone of the argument. It's a very decent play, really.

It doesn't have to make sense, it just has to sound good to republicans.

yeah, that's the idea whether or not it's to get elected. You spit out trigger words that your political strategists know that the conservative core has been well-trained to respond to by sitting up and being good little doggies.

Rick Perry is doing the same thing: take words with negative, appeal-to-fear, well-programmed connotations and just string them together.

Quote:
"America is in crisis, " the Republican governor says on a website promoting the event. "We have been besieged by financial debt terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters."

'financial debt terrorism'

think about it

this works

It's funny because it seems to me that the Republicans have been the financial debt terrorists, shifting the debate away from all things non-debt-related directly to the debt and only the debt. Right after we pulled out of the bottom of a recession through short-term government spending.

and right after we plunged into the recession, largely due to republicans dismantling anything resembling financial regulation.

and of course vast amounts of the debt are due to republican insistence on fighting wars while cutting taxes... BUT WHY GET HUNG UP ON THE PAST, LOOK TO THE FUTURE!!!!!

and the war on financial debt terrorism.

Honestly, these are desperation techniques. They harm the party more in the long run, since these appeals exhaust themselves if everything goes back to normal.

Also, Obama won 2012 already and the conservatives can calm their trembling little ouchy pussies already.

You don't understand. The US has many enemies bent on inflicting roadside conflict disaster through their nuclear jihad $6 gas terrorism. We must be steadfast in our defense of traditional American apple pie soldier freedoms, a concept my opponent doesn't seem to understand.

newt gingrich's campaign manager and a mess of his staff just resigned. newt vows to soldier on.

...where is the sinking-ship icon?

and i mean it for the whole party. apparently, the resignation may signal that rick perry is reconsidering a run.

I always hear his name as Prick Berry. I don't know why.

He might be the best option they have against Obama, really.
