Oh, Calvin & Hobbs was started before I was born and stopped when I was eight, when I was still interested in Saturday morning cartoons, I just thought it was a random thought.

It stopped when I was eight too, but I read them all and actually have them all on my computer. _________________

A triceratops's worse fear. I love C&H. We got lucky for a few months when our local paper ran the strips. _________________ Do it with authority. |

So does this thread have anything to do with Sinfest anymore?
Anyway, the difference is in large part due to practice. The first time you draw the characters it's a leap from nothingness, and you have to take some time to decide how they look and get into the routines.
And we all know that Sinfest is Calvin and Hobbes for teens. You don't exactly have to look far for the similarities.
(I, by the way, utterly love C&H.) |

"Sinfest" is its own universe, drawing on but not subject or beholden to past sucesses by other artists.
"Zits" is C&H for teens. _________________ 88 NPH |

I always expect to see hobbes in the background in one of the Zits comics. _________________ Do it with authority. |

| ...I don't find "Zits" comparable. There isn't anything even vaguely resembling the atmosphere of Watterson's immortal. |

I like watching the characters develop. As anything progresses (Cartoon, Comic, Book series, T.V. sitcom.) the characters develop more and more. I think Monique is the best example in this comic when she is first introduced she is a tramp but later we see that she has a sweeter side. At least that is the vibe I was getting. _________________ Do it with authority. |

If you're going to use that standard, why not say that "Pickles" is a Calvin and Hobbes for old people?
If the atmosphere changes and the plot/characters are completely different, how can you say that they're alike? |
