Honestly I don't see the point in having a post count anyway. |
Then obviously you aren't an elitist asshole like me! |
I just don't care about my post count. It's not like you get a prize for having the highest one or anything. |

| Post counts make it intimidating for new people to join a forum. This may be seen as a good thing by some, but I've seen good forums die because new people never showed up. I spent years thinking about joining the Sinfest forum, but didn't until now, when the post count was reset. Join dates are fine though. |

Why would people's post counts make people not want to join? That just doesn't make sense to me. _________________

It does in a sense. When everyone that's posting regularly has thousands of post counts, a person that would only have a post count of 1 when they first posted may feel intimidated. It's understandable, it's the 'newbie' feeling, that you won't be taken as seriously because you're new, with only one post count, while the established members have their thousands and thus more reputation (and elitism) than you.
If you don't think that occurs, though, then all the more reason for post counts to not exist. The registeration dates I don't mind, but really, what good are post counts other than for flaunting purposes? _________________ "What we believe to be the truth is only the truth because we believe it to be." |

Meh, i don't really care abut it either way.
I've joined enough forums to know everyone's a newbie at sometime, and that post counts often don't reflect who's who and who you need to watch out for. The only way you figure that out is by reading the forum a bit before you join or be jumping right in.
As for reputation and elitism, eh, things change, it's a silly thing to worry about. _________________
