they can exist - if they are xxy males. normal xy males can't be calicos.
the color is on the x chromosome; the patchiness, if i recall correctly, is from one or the other chromosomes being turned off. so to be tricolored, a cat needs one chromosome with the black/gray gene and a second one with the orange gene (white=both genes turned off). females, of course, always have 2 Xs, so they can be calicos more easily. _________________ aka: neverscared! |

Time to be captain bring down.
Dogs near me need to stop becoming ill/ dying.
My friend's room mate had to put her dog to sleep the other night due to age. My friend put her puppy (I consider 4 years to still be a puppy) to sleep to do a severely cancerous liver(?) she weighed the cost vs quality of life for a long time she said, she's completely heart broken. My girlfriends old neighbors dog went to the docs because he was limping, bone cancer. Co workers cat is dying of old age while her dog is having some other type of trauma going on.

orange girls are rare, but they do happen. as do calico boys.
....look, you don't expect cats to be totally predictable, right? |

And Ded.. this just hasn't been a good year for pets in general.. I've had 4 friends lose cats this year to old age or other. Freaks me out everytime I hear about them and I immediately go home and snuggle Olivia til she tries protesting through chomping on the nearest body part. |

The things you put that poor cat through.
And the things mine put me through. They're now confined to the back room of the house for not only trying to escape outside, but sticking their paws in the aquarium every time I'm not looking.
This only makes me feel slightly more secure because it gives them ample time to plot new mischief.
And my dog... I was in the yard. My dog is following me. I had some branches in my hand that had fallen from the tree. I look at my dog. I turn and drop the branches into a pile. I turn around to look at my dog.
My dog is nowhere in sight.
I spend about four minutes looking everywhere for him and calling. Find him in the neighbor's yard where he probably sneaked off to poop. |

true, but they still have boy bits, so they are boy cats, not girl cats. _________________ aka: neverscared! |
