...but you just don't know how.
If you've read the Horrors thread, you might have seen this already:
| Willem wrote: | During the weekend, a friend of mine fell off some sort of construction and landed on the ground, on her back. The fall was about 2 metres. Luckily, she only has heavily bruised her pelvis and lower ribs. Still, she's out of school for the entire week (although she might be back tomorrow) and has to stay in bed.
I was quite worried when I heard.
Edit: I've known this since monday, but only got a full explanation in the evening. Just so you know. |
| Willem wrote: | About the girl from my class that fell on her back:
It seems it's worse than they first thought. It's only bruised, yes, but she'll have to stay out of school for at least 2 weeks. A month being possible.
She can't even come on the school trip to Paris with us and I know she'd love to go. |
I want to do something to cheer her up, because she's a bit down.
So, I'm looking for a way to make her feel better. So, I need some ideas. Some things you can do without moving too much, because I think that staying in bed for a couple of weeks isn't as much fun as it sounds.
So, any ideas? _________________ attitude of a street punk, only cutting selected words out of context to get onself excuse to let one's dirty mouth loose |

a playstation?
Maybe you could go round your classmates collecting all the old game systems you can find, or get her books or DVD's or something, 2 weeks is a lot of time... |

Books and DVD's were on my list.
Don't think videogames would be succesfull, though. _________________ attitude of a street punk, only cutting selected words out of context to get onself excuse to let one's dirty mouth loose |

i think that if some other friends want to cheer her up too, you guys should write a song for her (a silly, goofy song) and surprise her and sing it to her.
and bring flowers.
that would DEFINITELY cheer me up. =) _________________

You're so funny, Snorri.
Besides, she has a bruised pelvis. That has to hurt. _________________ attitude of a street punk, only cutting selected words out of context to get onself excuse to let one's dirty mouth loose |

Well in that case it would probably not be a good thing no.
But in any other case it would totally cheer her up... _________________

I like the board game idea better. She's probably very bored. Something that takes a while to play, and isn't too mentally taxing so you can chat. |

Take a video camera with you to Paris. Record everything you see. I mean everything. You should have 2 days worth of footage by the end of the trip. Show her this.
For the time being, become her man-servant. You will be topless all the time, only covered by a loincloth, accept this way of life. Do whatever she tells you to do. That'll cheer her up. |

Can she walk/leave the house at all? Is there somwhere nearby that you can take her to go swimming? Or even just a hot tub to hang out in? Swimming may seem like a no-no because its a physical activity, but actually it really helps because the water supports your body and takes the pressure off of the injury.
As far as being stuck in bed and barely able to move, I've been there. You can only watch so much TV and movies before they get REALLY boring. Get her some good books and new music. |
