Republican senators are fleeing PIPA. Probably not because of protests, but because of the backlash from their think-tanks.

So far only one of my senators has come out in opposition.

Remember that these people are likely not suffering under a misconception, they're looking out for their campaign donations. Don't spell out a well-researched reason for PIPA being bad. A simple "You vote for PIPA, I vote for your replacement" will suffice.

I don't vote for Franken (although he doesn't know that). However, for the most part I agree. I told Patty Murray's office that they needed to come out against PIPA or I'd just stop voting in the Senate races and volunteering for her campaigns. They didn't seem to care (it's a staffer/volunteer who's probably heard the same thing a thousand times). But we'll see what she does. She's said that protecting IP is "vital for the economy and jobs in Washington" but has "real concerns."

I'm getting sick of everything being touted as saving jobs. How does PIPA create or protect jobs? Hell, IP holders don't even need more lawyers - they don't even have to prove someone is infringing before they cut off their cash flow. Whose jobs are on the line with PIPA? Fucking buzzwords.

Also, how did no one post this yet? Author of SOPA found to be using unattributed, copyrighted work on his campaign website. Better shut himself down!

All my instincts tell me that this SOPA/PIPA thing is just a distraction from the upcoming election anyway.
