"If a woman has [the right to an abortion], why shouldn’t a man be free to use his superior strength to force himself on a woman?" Lockman wrote. "At least the rapist’s pursuit of sexual freedom doesn’t [in most cases] result in anyone’s death."

why link to his email

emailing him is pointless

the entire point of that statement was to rile up people who would consider themselves to be pro-choice by comparing it to something that he knew would offend them

if he gets angry emails that just tells him that he succeeded

sending him emails won't keep him out of office

The quote is definitely old, considering it was taken from a letter in 1990 (damn creepy tho, then and now).

Still I want this guy to make it big in the media. He'd be like stardust, even conservatives would consider heading the other way because eek don't associate us with this guy.

Popcorn all around.

definitely, he should be well-publicized. he is now in the maine state legislature, where he apparently quickly became the leader of the tea party there....and oh man, does he have some seriously screwy ideas. not only about abortion, but about gays, hiv, taxes, unions - you name it:
Quote:
In the late 90s and early 2000s, Lockman spoke out against anti-bullying and diversity initiatives in Maine schools, calling them “politically-correct liberal fascism,” and warning that “The thought police have arrived. Their mission is to serve as the eyes and ears of Big Sister.”

The “homosexual rights movement” is engaged in “a covert scheme to use federal crime-control funds to transform Maine’s public schools into gay-activist indoctrination centers,” claimed Lockman.

He would insist that the real bias and hatred was coming from “gay activists” who would “move quickly to bully and browbeat anyone who dares to challenge their lust for power.”

and remember - this is the _leader_ of the maine tea partiers. yeah, voters gotta learn exactly how crazy and hate-filled these people are.

If he thinks the gays are going to bully him, shouldn't he be pro-anti-bullying?

Quote-unquote "Anti-bullying" (so-called) is just the PC term for thought policing!
It's just them sissy Libruls trying to make the school infringe the First Amendment rights of the Born Again students to throw rocks at the unregenerated queers! It's bad enough they TAX us to run their government schools, now I'm supposed to stand by while they force my children to treat the Sodomites like they DON'T deserve death!

I linked his email to subtly show that he's part of the Maine legislature

Maine is strangely rural, cosmetically and paternalistically conservative, for being in the New England area.

that's always pissed me off as it's on my list of "places to live where I haven't lived yet when I get enough money to get the hell out of where I live now".

On one hand maine has lobster, the fresh air of the sea, and proximity to Canada for when you need to bail in the case of a draft or the DEA finds your pot field because your cousin Rando couldn't keep his fucking mouth shut and do the time... but anyway....

But anyway it also apparently has at least one paeleo-conservative (with caveman level ethics surrounding rape) as well as 99% of the things that were ever evil in a Stephen King novel. Also Stephen King.

exactly, it's got both:
mountains with their sheltering pines
and douglass fir trees
and beaches with new ocean waves
and the salty sea bree-eze

It's kind of sad how much this made me nerd rage.
