The only thing I got out of this was that she writes fanfiction. And that makes me so, so, SO happy.

But yeah; 50 shades is classic hey we want this to be pretty steaming hot and kinky but everyone on the internet has already read way kinkier, steamier and better written shit on a kink meme and is basically a huge embodiment of everything that's wrong with fanfiction. But considering the fact that it was a Twilight fanfic with the names changed, why on Earth would anyone be surprised by how terribad it is?

I did get a kick out of the fact that tumblr wasn't even phased by smut getting popular... but it -was- totally miffed it was -shitty smut- and really if you want goodfic why didn't you just ask?

I read it for two reasons: someone here challenged me to instead of trying to draw conclusions from asking them questions, and a good friend had started it and wanted someone to talk about it with. I wasn't too impressed... But it sure sold a lot of copies. Someone must have been recommending it.

Well lets be honest, all the goodfic I would recommend is on the opposite side of fandoms and would probably completely horrify most of the forum. None of it involves BDSM either (well, one exception but that's mostly because the author is amazing more than I have any interest in the porn.)

This is why I don't post in the 'what are you reading' thread.

I've never really read fanfic. 50 Shades of Grey was, first and foremost, a romance novel... and I just didn't care that much (the last half of the book is pretty much constant sex, and I mostly skimmed it).
