To my memory it was a learning plateau. The later game is absolutely worth it if you stick with it though.

On that note, their new upcoming game, Primordia, looks fucking amazing.

-sigh- If you're thinking of buying the newly released Knights of the Old Republic Collection, don't. It's buggy as hell. There's still no widescreen support and it seems, at least for me, to tab out whenever you start it up and get to the logo screens. Everytime. And when you watch a movie. It actually works less than the old CD version, and since they're incompatible I guess I'll just have to ... uninstall it and reinstall the old one. Goddamnit.

Old thread, old game! The Ur-Quan Masters is basically Star Control II, except it works on modern computers (and just about any OS). It has the same art assets plus the option to use new soundtracks and a dozen other fiddly things to tweak.

Humanity has fallen and become trapped beneath an impenetrable shield on Earth, but suddenly a lost science mission returns to the solar system with the skeletal frame of a giant alien capital ship of incredibly advanced design.
You are the captain, and its your mission to free Earth and all other sentient races from the seemingly unstoppable Ur Quan army. You've got to zip from star to star, gathering resources and biological data, establishing alliances and trading technology, destroy self-replicating probes, and uncover the fate of the defeated Alliance of Free Stars as well as the mysterious Precursors to achieve your ends.

This is actually the first time I've dipped into the genre of space explore/gather/upgrade games. Once I got past the learning curve and the blasted keyboard controls, it's been pretty damn fun. This thing was "sandbox" before there were sandboxes; progress is through non-linear exploration and hitting key events can happen in more than one sequence. If you're not going to use the Wiki, which is often spoilery, then you should be keeping a logbook as you play. Yes, it's that old school.

Roughly how many hours does that game take to run through wheels? It sounds fun but I'm not sure I have time for another game and school right now. =\

I silly and violent short about league of legends in stick figure form.

And a second one.

No idea. Not only am I not very far into it, but I tend to play games about half as fast as most other people, just because I enjoy meandering about and taking things in. According to Google there are literally hours of dialogue with aliens alone, though. (And it's worth it, because the dialogue is excellent) I'd expect at least a few dozen hours of gameplay if you're not using a walkthrough to breeze through it. It's probably possible to log a few hundred hours if you want to find everything.

Not sure which is better, the minion humping the turret, or SIX DORAN'S BLADES.

I personally dont like Doran's items, whenever I am in a game with someone who is stacking them I make sure to go out of my way to ask them what they are going to upgrade their Doran's items into.

Heh, I'll start with a Doran's Ring on Ziggs, but other than that it's boots + pots fo' everybody!

(Except jungle Hecarim who gets cloth + pots, because no one in co-op vs. AI knows how to leash.)
