While the Harper government might be to their liking I wonder what will happen when they realize what kind of Healthcare system Canada has. Oh and in other news the swedish government after much internal conflict finally agreed to free emergency care for immigrants without papers. There's some problems with their definition of "emergency" (cancer, for example, isn't necessarily covered) but it's a step in the right direction. _________________ "Moderation in temper, is always a virtue; but moderation in principle, is a species of vice. The fact that it's impossible to tell the difference says a lot I think. _________________ "Moderation in temper, is always a virtue; but moderation in principle, is a species of vice. " - Thomas Paine |

I'm confused by this article. It's only at the end that he says Oh the public hates public healthcare so now Obama is in trouble. From what source does he grab that? Is there really a grand majority that hates public healthcare or is that something the Republicans keep saying? _________________ Sinfest Comments Bingo because we like Schadenfreude~ |

He doesn't say public healthcare. He says Obamacare (much as I dislike the ring to that that's apparently the official term now). There's a difference. In fact the polls showed support for singlepayer healthcare at plus 45%. Of course that was never on the table, for two reason: the illusion that copying a republican idea would garner bi-partisan support and more importantly the insurance industry has very deep pockets and thus effectively called the tune. So what we're left with is something that makes everyone, except for the public as in public healthcare, happy. Obama can appear the great reformer to his base, the republicans can whip up their base into a frenzy about "socialist" obamacare, while what's really being implemented is a republican proposal. In large drafted by the insurance companies and right wing lobbygroup the Heritage Foundation. And of course a similar proposal being implemented by then Mass. Governor now Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. See how nice it all comes together? _________________ "Moderation in temper, is always a virtue; but moderation in principle, is a species of vice. " - Thomas Paine |

srsly, just make both pubic and private hospitals already so people can be happy and stuff, although I'm not the expert on the issue of course so what I say may make me sound foolishly uninformed.
Gonna go back to my corner with Yinello now kay. _________________ Hey there pretty little lady,

Gonna go back to my corner with Yinello now kay. | when I'm at my computer and not this shitty old cellphone I am going to dig out a very recent research paper that shows quite clearly that for profit hospitals is just a bad idea all around. Period. That is assuming of course that you agree with the very radical notions that health service should be judged by how well they provide health service not how effective they are at laundering money for their owners. _________________ "Moderation in temper, is always a virtue; but moderation in principle, is a species of vice. Heh, from past experiences, I can confirm that government hospitals tend to provide less 'fancy' features and offer 'lower standard' equipment, which is slightly false actually, while privately owned hospitals provides better services, but literally with a higher price.
The cycle we're experiencing is that the rich tends to support privately owned hospitals, while budget-cutters like my family are attracted to government property. Of course, Malaysia's a small-ish country in comparison to America so differences exist in many ways, including culture and economy.
Relatively similar to choosing schools to attend for your children actually.
Making some popcorn for Yinello and me, because our county's cool like that. _________________ Hey there pretty little lady,
