You need to learn to troll better. Scott and Summer do not approve. |
Apparently no one noticed that I quoted "i am now envisioning all their bikes as extreme multitools" considering that the girl from that game has a chainsaw that IS A MULTITOOL. It turns into namely a cassette player, a notepad and a phone with which to speak with her family, a grenade launcher, and into a transportation device.
So yes, loose the Feminism, and you have Lolipop Chainsaw, who if you played the game, is actually a strong woman character, if anything, she's her own version of Feminism.
Of course since she can be someone guys could enjoy to play as, and isn't jamming an agenda down someones throat or putting restraining orders on people, she's "whats wrong with women these days".
And since I posted my opinion which is so most assuradley WRONG to most people on these forums:
Edit: Made this post before I saw someone basically say what I was trying to get at, but I'm keeping it up to actually have something to be controversial. |

The reviews I read made it seem like Juliet's outlook on life was not hyper-sexualized. Maybe it is. If that is the case then I would agree the game is grossly sexist, but then that's not the argument I'm making. |
Yo, I'm sorry you can't extract what I mean out of that. That is just an exaggerated version of the harmful trope we're talking about.
She's posed with a sports bra, pigtails and a lollipop. That's a pretty good start on sex objectification right there and I really doubt a game with "Lollipop" in the name is going to surprise me much. I wouldn't expect most game reviewers to talk much about anything sexist in games.

I agree, but I don't think a "cultural standard for attractiveness" is the problem here, but how the cultural views the way people think. It's not a problem that some pretty women wear hotpants; it's that some men think that means they WANT to be raped.
It's not how they LOOK that's an issue, its how people relate that physical appearance to the perceived mental attitude of the person. |
Did you check the bit about anorexia too? I can go dig up stuff about desensitized nipples and spinal problems from breast enlargement as well. Maybe some labiaplasty, which is increasingly common thanks to porn. Oh, and one of my favorite terrible attractiveness standards that cripples women: foot binding
| Quote: | | By the 19th century, some 40–50% of Chinese women had bound feet; for upper class women, the figure was almost 100%.[4] It is estimated that more than one billion Chinese women had their feet bound from the late 10th century to the mid-20th.[5] |
Yes, that's a foot. Thankfully it's fading away.

Can you be less terrible? I'd like to find this funny as a parody of what people that don't really know much about feminism say about feminism. Thanks. |

Yes...clearly what we should do is treat every post like it's in a vacuum, and never use what we know about a given poster from their posting history as a tool to garner greater understanding of their meaning. |

Now that you have stuffed up your strawman, panted my face on it, and knocked it down you can point to me and my statements, counting them as thoroughly refuted. Your wit is unmatched, but -sadly- in this case, so is mine.
Anyway, I guess, there is nothing more to discuss on the matter. But, I will say I do feel sorry for whoever it is you're arguing with. Glad he's not me. _________________ A MtG Webcomic |

Oh oh, we're talking about unrealistic beauty standards now?
Because let me tell you, the human race has learned to do some fucked up shit in the name of beauty! By the end of this post, you might realize that you've been deforming yourself this whole time.
Let me introduce you to one of my favorite books of all time.
This lovely book introduced me to stuff like piercings! Man, some people have wacky piercings. (Including me! I have six piercings. The following picture is not me, though, I wouldn't want to confuse you here.)
Of course there are other kinds of body art. I mean, some people go for tattoos but there's also the option of decorative scarring.
Then of course, there are the infamous corsets. Everybody likes to have a thinner waist, yeah? Easiest way to get there is to just smoosh those organs up and away! (Or, I guess some of 'em get smooshed down and away, huh?)
There's also the formal foot binding, that Kylra just mentioned.
But of course, very few people are that extreme, especially in this day and age! I mean, your feet probably look something like this, right?
Perfectly natural! Except.... Well. Shit.
This is actually the shape of a foot that has not been deformed by modern shoes. _________________ Samsally the Gray |

See thats why I hate high heels, give me a girl in combat boots anyway.
Oh dear... I said what makes women attractive to me, I'm promoting the unrealistic view of women.
You can feel free to get mad at that monkey... |

Please don't assume I'm angry.
I hold you in a mixture of contempt and pity and therefore feel no need to hedge my words toward you as you have no shred of my respect. |

i don't think most of us have played that game. i had no idea about that

But at the same time it's still probably safe to assume that they likely to be female since not only are they are a member of the Sisterhood, but given what we know of the Sisterhood (obviously a feminist organization, not to mention having been referred to as a feminine conspiracy and their previous use of matriarchal terms) makes it seem quite likely. But it's still always possible that they loosened up since their initial introduction and decided to let in a few guys who meet their standards or whatever. It could really go either way. |
maybe curly is a trans female. that'd be cool. i don't think sinfest has actually stepped into that territory before in a serious manner
it'll be true in my headcanon for now, like the dalek voices |

That's right...laugh it off.
Edit: Contempt for the views you hold, pity for your inability or unwillingness to armor your arguments in something other than your gut feelings.

You didn't make any statement at all. Specifically you were avoiding the hard thing to answer in what I said, and I made mention of that and thus that was not a strawman. Here you are avoiding it yet again by very poorly using logical fallacy references, which ironically applies much more to you here than me since you're only dealing with the part of my argument you know you can say your opinions about without possibly looking bad.
I'll take this fallacy callout seriously once you actually address all the types of harmful stuff I have been posting. You did at least one of the emotional, now lets hear what you have to say about anorexia, its physical problems including lethality, and the beauty industry and western cultural promotion of it. That's not wiped away by "lets just change people's attitudes about raping women who look like X". |
