That translates a little too closely to "know your place woman" and for the purposes of discussion it's the kind of phrasing you're going to want to avoid.

everyone should know their place. women's place isn't below men, and they aren't infallible goddesses, either.

anyone who can't put their money where their mouth is, that's someone who's too arrogant, male or female. and as everyone's been saying, it's really great to see the sisterhood rising to the challenge

Glad to know finally we're getting something good not just tricycle trinity fucking everyone's shit then leaving into the sunset.
It's not funny - yet - but it's a progress from the boring lectures of feminist b/s.

I think the only true response to "know your place" is "fuck you, you fucking fuck." and I'm pretty sure that crosses all genders, too.

So seriously, who the fuck are you to judge where anybody else's place is?

The answer is "nobody" and "you shouldn't".

is that directed at me? there's a pretty huge range between "below men" and "infallible goddess" and i don't think you believe women are outside that range, either. that's purely the territory of male/female supremacists, respectively

as far as the phrase itself goes, i think if someone says that to you, definitely. but taken literally and outside the context of some asshole talking down, it's not exactly bad advice

Except no, it really isn't advice at all. Or if you think of it as advice, it's really fucking rude advice.

I honestly can't think of a situation where that would be a useful thing to try to do. It's restrictive and encourages stagnation.

I would guess it would more depend on the context. We all do have a place, and it might be nice to know it.

But, I would agree someone else should not assume they know your place better than you -yourself- know it.

The idea of having "a place" is silly, though. What is "your place?" Your job? That changes. Your socioeconomic status? That can change (although usually doesn't), and it's generally considered a good thing to not accept your SES as "your position in life" (that is, we're encouraged to try and move upward). So what is your place, if not the place in which you stop trying to excel, the place where you give up and accept defeat?

Your place being dynamic does not mean you don't have one at a given time.

You have quite a different understand of the term than I, it seems.

I will speak for myself when I say my place has never been, and hopefully never will be, a place where I give up or stop trying. I am simply not suited for such activities.

lich mong's on my wavelength here. samsally, sorry to apparently offend, i probably didn't explain myself clearly enough

have you ever heard or perhaps said something to the effect of "you don't get to say X until you've experienced Y"? that's a statement about someone's place. i've definitely seen a bit of "you don't fully understand the struggles women face in modern society if you're a guy" thrown around here, which is a particularly restrictive example of the above

i think of "knowing your place" as acknowledging your current status and limitations, but in most cases you can and should aspire for more

Oh thank you, you sure showed me.
Your brilliant argumentation and shaming tactics have left me speechless.

Just kidding.

I wonder if the troubling subtext of Sam, a supposed-maybe-I'm-not-sure-how-Tat-wants-us-to-take-it "sexual pervert," being in a public playground is intentional.

Hey, I didn't come up with the Sam/Liberty/porn scenario, Tat did.

The two new helmet-less Sisters look distinctive enough that we might reasonably expect to see them again. Because apparently Tat just can't get enough of nameless female characters...

Hey... has anybody seen Seymore?

Seymour doesn't entirely have the same concept of fun as most other characters.
