it works better if you string all the words together, then re-insert the spaces at random points |

Instead of answering this in an abstract way, I've been trying to think of an example of an okay rape joke. Not sure how it'd go...
The closest I could find is this joke by Jimmy Carr about beating your wife.
It works because he's talking about one horrible thing and you expect him to give the traditional, morally sound reprimand, but instead he resolves it with another, equally horrible thing. So it's both a classic misleading - which is like, 90% of all jokes - and an unexpected shock which can be... funny? somehow nice? You can giggle at it in a schoolboy way knowing that it's very, very wrong.
So I think this one's OK because the joke value comes from putting two horrible things together in a way that's obviously wrong: IE the wrongness of beating your wife is emphasized, not disputed.
Of course if it hurts you to even hear it mentioned this way (or if you feel making jokes about it is inherently disrespectful, like some people do), that won't help at all.
P.S. Sorry for analysing a joke
P.P.S. "Analysing a joke is like dissecting a frog: the frog dies and nobody's that interested"
P.P.P.S. It's almost exactly the same joke as the ending to this flight of the conchords episode |

Is it weird that I sometimes think of Gary when I see Jimmy Carr? It was especially strong when I watched him in this video about incest. _________________ "Worse comes to worst, my people come first, but my tribe lives on every country on earth. | Nope because free speech means free speech, not just the stuff you agree with, also rape jokes are funny. |

I tried to think of a rape joke I'd heard that was actually funny. But almost all I've heard aren't. Like the first link by cixelsyD of Jim Jefferies, I was laughing until he did his last line of the joke. Then I rolled my eyes. The woman talking to her mom and his awkward-ness. Hilarious. The end...One, by then the joke was predictable. He could have said something to make a funny twist if he'd tried. I guess I just don't laugh at "This is funny because it's socially wrong to say." =P

Now if they talked about raping a politician, then yeah I don't think they should. |
Really? I mean I bet there's a joke about raping a politician out there that would have 95% of people laughing ...
you know why cause, politicians are almost universally hated. So it's not so much what is theme of the joke, but who is at the butt of it. |
Oh, in this case, based on his comment I was thinking not about "politicians" as much as a specific politician. For instance if someone who hates Hilary Clinton/Sarah Palin did a joke about raping one of them. But I get what you're saying in your sense. Even if I couldn't think of a context to make a joke about politicians and rape that couldn't be done better with something else. _________________ Have a Nice Day |

I'm sure I recall a joke by Sarah Silverman about being raped by a Jewish doctor and her mom's response which was hilarious. _________________

Damn, there is one I like but you have to pantomime it for it to work. _________________ Before God created Las he pondered on all the aspects a woman might have, he considered which ones would look good super-inflated and which ones to leave alone.
