It's sad to see how God, Jesus, Zeke and Ariel seem so distant from the other characters (and the audience) now... Perhaps it is some sort of message.

But I think that we're trying to be shown that there's a lot more to Lil E. Isn't it more interesting to see that this cute, rambunctious devil-kid who's sort of inept at being evil is perhaps the actually son of the Big D? I really want to know what the deal is. I love how his name now connects him to this gentler, more innocent part of his life. I don't think that we're totally through with seeing Lil E do things that will reflect the character he's always been. He's just experiencing the same sort of modification that all things do over time.

Also: everybody changes. Moreover, everything changes. Lil E is a character created by a person. Not only has the artwork depicting Lil E changed, but his character himself is going to be subject to further development.

I think he's just as cute and interesting as he's always been.

Honestly, I think character development is great. One-dimensional characters can easily bring a joke but they're forgettable.
