you what I find kinda funny? The monique strip that started off all of this was basically her realizing that it is not the patriarchy's fault why she acted that way, it was hers. She finally realizes the consequences of her own actions and the fact that she decided to go down that path. And then the next 9 months of the comic takes what could have been a really nuanced and intelligent way of approaching how society and people use and mold their sexuality, with society pushing people towards cheapening it, while people take advantage of this to get ahead (i.e. its not only the patriarchy's fault, its also the people who almost gleefully use the system to get what they want) and instead turned it into a very long series of basically seymour strips without the religion all while removing the funnyness. At least seymour had the angels to balance him out, the patriarchy is just pure evil. _________________ Marriage begins with a man on his knees giving a woman jewelry and asking for permission to do something. Okay, what the fuck. All I was saying was that the patriarchy series really got started when Monique was faced with the consequences of her actions. The "patriarchy" did make a culture where sex and sexuality has been cheapened, dudebros exist and are in fact what the media tries to present as cool, I admitted that. On the other hand, Monique had no complaints about the attention she got as well as the power she had over men thanks to said patriarchy's culture, though there were signs of low self esteem on her part, I forgot exactly what comic it was but I remember a long time ago referring to herself as a worthless ho or something like that and God cheering her up. That's all I was saying, two sides to this coin. On the one side, the "patriarchy" on the other, those who embrace the powers that culture provides. This lead to a feeling that the patriarchy series would be better had they presented both sides, Monique is seen as purely a victim here and squigley purely an idiotic hedonistic pig (right now they represent best both sides of the spectrum). Looking at it closer, its more grey, Monique loved the attention and gifts and squigley has many redeeming qualities and the porn is evil stance is not very good. Apparently trying to be rational makes me a shitstain. Who knew. _________________ Marriage begins with a man on his knees giving a woman jewelry and asking for permission to do something.
