And FFS anyone who frequents the other side of the forum should probably acknowledge that the fighting over the feminism arc has brought more active new blood to the forum as a whole all at once than it's seen in years.


Seems to me arguing passionately about a subject and mocking those who hold untenable positions proves to be modestly healthy for the forum.

I am really pleased to see some of the new cooler posters. Generally the asshats stick to the comic subforum, too, so the regulars not inclined to deal with this bullshit can easily avoid them by not coming in here.

Best not to ask and just console yourself with the fact that most of the regulars swing pretty wildly between asshat and cool, too, so it's not like you aren't fitting in. (as in the same regular has both qualities)

Yeah, it's not like we're homogenous. We disagree about all sorts of things (guns, feminism, politics, ethics, the health benefits of poutine, which lactase supplement is the best, whether gravy-in-a-biscuit is the best food ever, etc). In one day you can get called a dick or an asshat in one thread and get a sincere compliment from the same person in another. Some will like you, some won't. Some will like you some days and not others. Sometimes you just have to persevere... and try not to be a dick all of the time. That helps some people. Not me, though. Or Samsally. We're straight up gangsta.
