Not sure if feminist... on one hand, the male book (assuming "Malevolum" to be a masculine name) is treating these new books as "pieces of meat" and sacrificing one as a virgin, something which typically seems to only happen to women (what would the otherworldly forces want with a male virgin? Ew!). So this could be male religious domination with books as an allegory.

On the other hand, that's kind of contrive, isn't it? I guess not feminist. I need to stop reading this comic while also doing research into literary theory for AP Literature homework.

Actually, why wouldn't otherworldly forces want male virgins? Aren't virgins supposed to be 'pure' (read naive)?
