| Alas, our girl in green fails at evil. But I'd still hug her. |

For the first time in history, Seymour's actually doing his Christian-spreading RIGHT.
Has Hell frozen over ye- oh right.

Truly heartwarming. And rather gross. _________________

| kindest or cutest ? as for most recent development i'd say cutest is Blue, and she is most deserving compasion. |

| Since when has being cute got anything to do with compassion or having pity for a character? |

it does not, that is the reason i put "and" in between.
To me recent Blue seems both cute and fragile. Both this AND that. |

| Oh didn't see that. My bad. And I'm not sure if she's cute in the traditional sense of the word, she seems too strong a character for a word like 'cute' to do her justice. But she's definately a likeable character and one with depth, I agree there! |

Blue of a year ago was like a jewel - it has its elegance and maybe even beauty, but it is hard and cold and no way can be called cute.
However for Blue today that jewel-like appearance is a timely mask, and her soft side is breaking through time to time. And even when she holds her outer strict appearance, her soft vulnerable side is very close to surface, like when she was reading wickedpedia on Amber. She did not let tears out, but she clearly was on the verge.
That her side - that was absolutely hidden in the past - i consider cute. |

To consider the strip on another level, keep in mind that Fern (or Lime or whichever) presumably knows absolutely nothing about Squig or Seymour. They're total strangers to her, yet she still gets choked up watching them.
I'm not sure why people keep saying Fern fails at evil. She hasn't really tried it yet. Fuchsia and Blue used to do quite at well at being evil yet were still cute and sweet (not so much these days, as Fuchsia is less evil and Blue less sweet). I'm sure Fern can pull that off too, if that's what Tat wants her to do.
Which reminds me of http://www.sinfest.net/archive_page.php?comicID=3337 in which a "Just Say No to Evil" sign was depicted as part of a display of prejudice. I kept waiting for that to go somewhere, the idea that in the Sinfestiverse "evil" is an entirely objective concept, as innate to one's self as hair color or, well, horns or halos. Seems to have been sort of a throwaway, though. Shrug. |
