Do you think they have other Christian icons posing for the other months, or is it just Jesus in an assortment of 12 different provocative poses?

I guess Seymour would actually totally dig that, given the chance.

Sorry to burst his bubble but considering that the Mayan Calendar didn't take into account Leap Years, this end of the world has already passed its expiration date.

i think he's actually referring to the mayan 'prediction' of the world ending on dec 21, 2012 - although the mayans were also pagans, so.....

nah the worlds gonna end, not because of the mayan prediction, because a bunch of dumbasses going ballistic and killing each other because they think we're all gonna die anyways.

Yeah, it'll be the end of the world...

Because nothing spectacular will happen, and everyone is going to have to figure out what the hell to do with themselves on the 22nd. Same as every other major doomsday prophecy that has ever come and gone.

Okay, okay... so a couple of apocalypses and raptures have turned out to be hooey, but this one feels different! It's got Mayans!

some of those predictions must have real stories behind them, e.g., the Prophet Hen of Leeds:
Quote:
In Leeds, England in 1806 a hen began laying eggs on which the phrase "Christ is coming" was written. Eventually it was discovered to be a hoax. The hoaxster had written on the eggs in a corrosive ink so as to etch the eggs, and reinserted the eggs back into the hen.

one just imagines the persistence of the hoaxster, reinserting eggs into the hapless hen....

and speaking of persistence - i think it's heartwarming that so many people refused to be daunted by their failure to predict the end of the world, and continued to make prediction after prediction, despite repeated failures. that's the kind of stick-to-it-iveness we need to get us to the apocalypse!
