Well, he was her friend even before she decided that evil wasn't cool. She was "evil" and he never tried to change her or even asked her to change. She changed on her own. So she's evil, well, nobody's perfect, right?
The strip formerly sort of hinted at the notion of "evil" being an objective trait, like hair color or horns. A sign with the sentiment "Say No to Evil" was depicted in the below strip in a scene demonstrating discrimination against Devil People.

("No Halo No Service"? so it's, what, an angel club? An establishment for round-headed whatnots like Seymour? How about the strip showing us the inside of that building some time?)
However, AFAIK the strip has never really done anything with the notion that "saying no to evil" can in and of itself somehow be "bad."
Saying no to evil without saying yes to good would constitute...well, nothing, I guess. |
