I really want a couch fort now but I don't have a couch.
This is a damn tragedy. Looks like I'll have to resort to turning my futon into a blanket fort.

We used the dining room table and chairs. We hung bedsheets from the top of the table to seat of the chair, held in place by encyclopedias (we had a whole set, so there were plenty), and lined the chairs up so you had to crawl between them in a kind of foyer to reach the table. It made for a roomier fort.

I seem to recall, as a kid, using everything imaginable to build the fort out of (we also had an encyclopedia set, man those things were useful). At one point we had a veritable labyrinth going on when we were left unsupervised for too long in a rather large basement room. The couch cushions were walls. Chairs and tables helped keep the sheets up.
We used it to play zoo. I was the lioness.
