The rules are quite simple: you must either agree with the person who posts before you, or disagree.

If you agree, you get a point.

If you are the first to disagree in a line of posters who agree with each other, you tally a point for each post with whom you disagree back to but not including the last person to disagree. (This may include multiple, non-consecutive posts from the same person--one point for each post; but you're not allowed to agree or disagree with yourself in consecutive posts.)

Of course, disagreeing may well incur the wrath of everyone else from whom you've just taken the potential of garnering a whole slew of points, but such is the hazard of being the voice of dissent.
