DUDE.
My God, when did Sinfest become this... Serious?
I mean, it has touched really serious issues before, but this is kinda scary.
...Woah, couldn't have seen it coming. _________________ Welcome to the Sinfest forum! The only place where you can find a > 30 pages long discussion about sentient toasters! |

Foot binding... *shudder*
At least Europeans mostly stuck to corsets and the like on the body mutilation front. Poor ladies of the past. _________________ Deviant Art | Twitter | Tumblr |

| Damn... If Tat's gonna stay on the patriarchy front, this is the way to do it. While the message he's been conveying has been important and relevant, it's been repetitive and generally a little watered down. It's great to see him touch on some issues with some higher stakes and a little deeper insight. |

Sorry, I wasn't talking about the monitor in the strip.
"Great flaming balls of fire" didn't exactly fit with the situation.
It's freezing here.
On the strip though, It gives me too many questions to get the message.

How about male genital mutilation. Cause we actually do that. Unlike all that other stuff.
What happened to you. |

Not the same as you but for a moment I was unable to quote. Forum had a hiccup I guess. _________________ Welcome to the Sinfest forum! The only place where you can find a > 30 pages long discussion about sentient toasters! |

I do agree about the confusion thing to an extent. The robots were made sentient enough they need outside programing instead of just downloads? Dang! I suppose you can't have a robot be that sophisticated without introducing free will as a factor... Maybe they were trying to make a new line of girl dolls that wouldn't require constant input? Reminds me a bit of Chobits. _________________ Deviant Art | Twitter | Tumblr

Oh, ok.
Thank goodness I managed to delete them before Ibian posted, or they would be there forever. Last thing I need. _________________ Let the music resonate with your soul... |

Is female genital mutilation really that bad? I mean, we practice circumcision...
To be clear, I'm against both, but I get a little annoyed whenever female genital mutilation is mentioned, as if guys don't get their cocks carved up in our own culture or in other cultures...
I don't want to start some cut vs uncut debate. My point is this: we seem to be more okay with removing something we are born with when we are males, and yet are horrified by the idea of something similar happening to a woman. Still, men definitely have it better, no matter what. I mean, it is a choice, right?
...despite all of that effectively pointless drivel on my part, this was a pretty nice comic. A stark contrast to most of Sinfest up to this point, but definitely pretty cool.
However, I can't help but question the wisdom of "awakening" fembots when they aren't actually females. You'd think we'd welcome such a creation for keeping the people that would purchase and use such a thing out of the gene pool and presumably, out of our lives. Ergo, fembots are a good idea because they might very well keep guys who would normally just use women for their own personal gains (like the men in today's strip) from doing anything of the sort to real women. _________________ If at first you don't succeed [in persuading or explaining something to me], then try and try again.
I love you.

Maybe it's the fear that the people who purchase the bots might act the same way to other people. Maybe. _________________ Let the music resonate with your soul... |

Well, as a programmer myself and a practical man I don't really know why you would want to give a robot with those specific purposes such a level of free will. I mean, the way I interpret the comic, it says that the robots actually are free all the way along, but what limits their action is that they don't desire to be anything else in order to be happy, and when exposed to cruel realities of the World, then they become angered and rebellious.
This is, of course, a very clever and subtler metaphor for gender programming, so I'm perhaps being too technical when I say that the robot is too unnecessarily complex and installed with functions that, from the perspective of DevilCorp, are undesirable. _________________ Welcome to the Sinfest forum!
