I can really think of better ways for Tat to spend the week than on this theme. Oh well. As ever, not like I'm paying for it. Wink

Speaking of which, in the past I've offered money if he'd act on this or that suggestion of mine, so I'm not sure how often he reads the forums. Or maybe he just doesn't have a Paypal account.

Or maybe he isn't a sellout (or, according to Tat, he's stopped being one)

Was this like "OMG TAT I WOULD PAY YOU TO DO THIS THING" open on the forums or was it like, sketchy underhanded e-mails like "Hey.. hey Tat, if you do this, I've totes got some cash that has your name on it."

The former (although not in quite so agitated a sense). And I'd totally back it up. Ten to twenty bucks to see the secret origin of Fuchsia? To see Slick and Mint go on a date? To see Baby Blue's bevy of perfect-bodied nymphs who never age or complain? Sure. Particularly if it was a Sunday strip and contained dialogue.

Bribery is the word for that.

I'm sure the name 'Sinfest' would still be appropriate Wink

Or "paying someone to do you a favor," which admittedly is more than one word.

It could even be considered "commissioning art."

i.... i don't think... i don't think having an author take their story's direction the way you want them to take it really counts as a commission, no. it's... definitely kind of bribery???

like, if he drew non-canon art for you that'd be a commission (possibly with him deciding to implementing it into canon later on if he likes it) but what you have in mind sure ain't.

Hey Tat, my friend Benjamin Fanklin is very much interested in the Crim-Fyoosh storyline. He'd really appreciate it if you spent some time on that. Wink

i'm not saying its wrong to want to pay tat to do things you want him to do. cuz i totally would too. i mean, just the other day i said that i would personally pay tat to take some time to flesh out the entire sisterhood as people rather than ideals, like he has with everyone else. so it's not like i'm suddenly going to see something severely wrong with that line of thinking.

i'm just saying that bribery isn't the same thing as commissioning artwork because paying someone to write their story to your whims is way off than paying someone to draw something for you.

What story direction? You've seen how often some of Tat's strips come completely out of nowhere and then go right back into it, right? A pointless one-off strip's a pointless one-off strip whether he gets paid for it or not, isn't it? Wink

"Day in the Life" strips provide information but they contribute zero to story direction. We (many of us, anyway) still enjoy them, though.

God came to me last night and told me your purpose for being here. I am going to help you write a new strip.

Oh, come on, I didn't say anything about writing it. All I'd be hoping for is a strip about a particular topic/character(s). It's such a minor hope...

ok lemme rephrase - its bribing a dude to implement anything in a comic that you want to see but he seems to have no plans of doing himself and even if strips come out of no where, what you have in mind would require some kind of set-up in order to work

(reintroducing mint into the strip when it seems clear that she's not coming back any time soon and then establishing that she is interested enough in slick to agree to go on a date with him, figuring out what fuchsia's backstory would even be when it's clear that he doesn't really have much of an idea himself ATM and then illustrating it, establishing and making it clear that blue really did have nubile nymphs - be them other devil girls or androids, or just literally nymphs - rather than just fuchsia and making it clear that if she did said nymphs are still around)

That argument was pointless and dumb. Don't be pointless and dumb.
