Seymour is an Objectivist? I would not have guessed. I think of it as more of a Libertarian thing than a Conservative thing.

Meh, I dont know. I preferred Seymour waaay back, just at the beginning, when he was AWESOME. Then he was a capable man, I dare to say, a badass one. He was, also, a tortured soul with his war memories rising eventually.

I don't know why Groening derailed Skinner as the dork he is now. Maybe...

Wait, wrong forum @.@

I wish Principal Skinner was less of a joke, too.

Maybe if it was love-hate? Given that biblical jesus is, uh... kind of at *POLAR OPPOSITES* to what Ayn Rand idolizes.

Though I suppose if it's Prosperity Gospel Jesus, it could work.

/Aaannnd I'm about to start ranting in anger about the prosperity gospel, soooo I'll be backing off now!

Maybe Seymour is neither heterosexual nor homosexual but Jesusexual. Maybe his devotion to Jesus is so overwhelming that he is capable of no strong emotion of any sort unless it's channeled toward Jesus.

Or not.

That used to be how I interpreted Smithers' dedication for Mr. Burns until it became clearer that Smithers was simply gay.

His cop hat hanging by the door is a nice detail.

Well, you do have internet access, so there's not much excuse for you not knowing who he is within ten seconds or so of seeing the name. Wink

Ya know, I agree with you on this. I don't have any issue with Smithers being gay, it just seems to eliminate some of the potentials for laughs for me.

It used to seem that Smithers adoration for Mr. Burns was of a sort that transcended mere adoration, it was something not easily definable by normal relationship standards. The way it used to be portrayed was simply more ridiculous, but maybe some felt that had gotten old. The way it used to seem, Smithers would have lusted after Mr. Burns even if he found out that Monty was an alien or a robot.

This is how Seymour seems to me now, and it's fuel for the funny.

Depends on how you define "Libertarian". The dominant form of the Tea Party has somehow managed to meld Objectivism and right wing Christianity, something that would apall the founders of both and on the face of it should be about as compatible as waffles and tartar sauce.

And Seymour? You can't hide from God.

I'd rather hear about feminism than hear about Jesus and John Galt.

ugh. Objectivist.

True, I could just google for an answer but I prefer to engage with and be an active participant in the forum. By asking instead of searching I am stimulating discourse, allowing a fester who knows the answer an oppurtunity to demonstrate their knowledge as well as experience the sense of satisfaction that comes with lending aid and educating a member of one's community. By asking and receiving an answer in a post, it also benefits any subsequent festers who also may not have known the answer and allows them to continue reading the thread without the need for interruption to look up the answer. When you get right down to it, however, the reason why I really, in all honestly, posted my inquiry instead of just looking it up myself is because by asking the question on the board I was afforded the opputunity to say mean things about Ayn Rand, that fucking cunt.

And all this time, I thought WWJD stood for "WHAT would Jesus do."

Sooooo since when is Seymour gay for Jesus?
I knew he was preachy and devoted to christianity and the bible due to his character, but for me, this is kinda crossing the line.

This isn't really a news flash; Seymour's been hot for Big J for months. Well, weeks, at least.

I wonder how Tat feels about the fact that his non-feminist strips typically generate way less forum activity than the feminist strips do.

Seymour annoys me though. Reminds me way too much of some people I've met for real. It kills me to think some readers don't realize that Seymour is being mocked, not celebrated.

I sorta wonder about that, too, lol. I doubt we'll find out for sure, but he may make a vague reference to it some day. Could be fun.

I don't really have strong feelings about Seymour. He just is. He's odd and often displays some pretty gross traits... but it all seems to stem from ignorance and not malice.
