Huh. Didn't realize until just now that the coup was just against the elected part of the government, and that the king is still in power (and in fact supported it). You guys probably mentioned it, but I stopped paying attention a while ago.
Why did I find out about this now? Because apparently it hasn't stopped the king from selling iPods or laptops emblazzoned with the royal seal. First link is to an article about the iPods, second is to a page mostly in Thai that deals with the sale of the laptop. Fascinating, and a nice presentation.

yeah...the same family has been in power since forever, but one generation can see multiple coups. military coups are nothing new in thailand, but the king is...sacred. you don't fuck around with the royal family part. =x
