Is a shitstorm coming? I need to know if I should read my popcorn. |
Speaking of Sam, why exactly does his cap have brand marks on it instead of the star? I don't think "Shell" and "Niké" are responsible for the vast amount of sexuality in the media.
(by the way, we haven't seen Criminy in a while, but I forgot about this strip.
I await the time when this whole arc will be done and I can read it from start to finish...) |

Yea, Crim's got different issues, but every time I think about em I wonder if I'm being too nitpicky and feel bad. Like with everything going on is that really a thing to worry about? Also, he's changed a lot since his younger self right?
Ahhh rabble rabble rabble, I can wait. |

The logos represent greed, not lust; they're only there to show us that's "evil" Sam in the club, not "good" Sam. _________________

I'll be honest, I don't see this strip as 'good' vs 'evil'.
I see it more as 'Rational' vs 'Instinctual'
During the day we see the rational side, or the side of an individual when they let their morals and views take control of making their decisions.
At night we see their more instinctual, or animalistic, side. This is the side of them that exists when they return to their more base instincts.
Neither is really 'right' or 'wrong'. Just two different ways of living ones life. Society frowns on instincts by nature, there's a great deal of social stigma attached to them because we all want to think we're 'above' our base calling, that we are 'better' than what we once or, better than our ancestors.
Truth be told, the only thing that has changed is that we're better at hiding it. I'm sure the Sisterhood has the same instinctual side, it's just never shown. If they didn't have it, they'd cease to be human. |

I saw it as the stripper devil girl's perspective on life -- she can see through the masks of propriety that people wear because she experiences people at their worst and most base, thus making her a seemingly not very happy person.
Which seems rather insulting to sex workers, but hopefully she's not meant to represent all sex workers. |

I wonder if these are meant to be literally separate people from the originals or if it's all the same people with some artistic license to make it obvious that they're being bad.
Did we ever figure out if Slick and Sleaze are the same physical person?
I feel like Seymour is definitely out of place in a strip club, so that makes me feel like these must be different people. Unless, as someone said earlier, maybe Seymour does have a crush on Violet and came to see her specifically, not necessarily for the sexiness? _________________ Men and patriarchy aren't interchangeable.

I'm rather surprised that the bouncer even let Seymour into the strip club. |

If the Sisterhood would show their base instincts, they'd be called sluts. |

Everyone has a job, providing a service that the others need. Some like their jobs, others do it for the compensation. How vile. |

Hm, I guess this DOES give the "werewolf" comics some meaning.
(with this happening to Slick every night, instead of how it backfired on that full moon event)
This one is off, I admit.
This being the most recent, and with Squig's furry form.
That explains the huge full moon ~ I guess this is everyone's dark side here. But Seymour being there just makes him even more hypocritical than ever before - although I guess it has to do with his own obsession of "pornography" (erotic fanfiction). |

This isn't a Day in the Live strip per se, since we didn't see her wake up and get out of bed (also it lasted until the following day). If you hit PREVIOUS and then NEXT, it shows the title as "Stripping."
What did Slick get the second cookie for? Or did he receive the cookie (as we saw him do), run around with it all day, stash it away while he (or at least Devil Slick in his body) went to the strip club, go to bed, get up the next morning, eat breakfast, grab the cookie and go outside to run around with it some more? That seems kind of odd even for Slick.
This strip needs some sort of "We Interrupt This Program" Sunday strip where a character stops the storyline (such as it is) in its track and explains...stuff to the readership (if I even understood exactly how much stuff there is to be explained, that'd be nearly half the battle right there), with charts and graphs and that kind of thing. Maybe it could be Mint the Ronin Devil Girl, since she's apparently the one who started this whole "Devil Slick" nonsense in the first place. |
