That description with [VIDEO] next to it? Nope, not clicking that.

However, you can find all kinds of examples of horrible people in the camp that disagrees with you. Some horrible side to the law of averages or something.

ho
ly
fuck.

how can people be so sure that other people are evil, and yet they themselves can do something like that and think they are the _good_ people?

(las: the video doesn't automatically open, so you can just read the text. but in short, this guy had a 13 year old girl chained up in the basement for perhaps a year, as punishment for wetting the bed. she just had a bucket for a toilet, but i guess that was OK since she seems to have had it all to herself - no men trying to horn in on it LIKE AT TARGET.)

(oh, and to quote the guy's father (also under arrest for false kidnapping and child endangerment): "I miss my babies with all my heart. I want them to do right. Thatís the way they were raised. If they have any questions, all they have to do is open the Bible and they will have all the answers.")

....hmmm, story doesn't seem to say if she was provided with a bible. then again, not sure i remember the verses about chaining your kids up in a basement. maybe i need to read it again.

and i suppose, law of averages being what it is, there is, somewhere, a transgender person or supporter of transgender rights who has done something horrible to a child. but they aren't loudly proclaiming that they are protesting bathroom laws to protect the children. it's that extra little dollop of hypocrisy - that contrast between all the screaming they are doing about protecting innocent children.....and then you find out what they, themselves, are doing to innocent children.

I'd be happier if there weren't so many caveats and stuff. Like, until you officially and legally change your gender, you can't use the correct bathroom. And there's nothing about those military members incarcerated currently for being transgender. Chelsea Manning makes some good points.

But yay, it's a good start.

I'm just viewing it as a stepping stone. The military is so awfully slow at changing.

The local Pride Parade was today. Way more packed this time than normal, with a lot more straight allies than normal. I was at the end of the route, so I didn't get as much swag as normal. Did not get a single condom, alas, which for me is a bit like not catching any beads at Mardis Gras.

There was a set of Jesus protesters on the corner across from us, standing on a large concrete flower bed sculpture. Over the course of an hour, counter protesters first surrounded and then overtook them, standing triumphantly on the sculpture while the Jesus protesters had to make due with being on the ground. Mostly, people cheered loudly enough to drown them out, and it was easy to forget they were there.

There was one lone Trump supporter marching in the parade. People cheered anyway, just like they did when the BP group went through. Later at a booth, I saw a few stop by and chat. One Trump booth person awkwardly tried to make a passerby take a waterbottle, which was funny in light of the adorable sweet old ladies at the Buddhist booth also handing out water.

The Buddhist group was from SGI, the group that offered Buddhist services when I was in boot camp. Nostalgic! They had a mirror set up so people could see 'the real Buddha' (or something phrased similarly.) It was nice to see them amidst all the affirming Christian churches.

Anyway, there was an open carry booth next to the Trump booth with a sign that said "Gays with guns don't get bashed." Which is not true and was fucking tasteless in light of all the recent shootings. People did stop by and chat, and everyone was at least civil if not friendly.

There were lots of dogs in the parade, including the most precious small puppy. Other probably valuable memories of Pride have been booted to store memories of that puppy.

Then we came home and had a multi-fruit flavored rainbow swirl cake with pink lemonade flavored cool whip for frosting and rainbow sour belts for 'gay bacon' decorations on top. Good times!

Almost forgot! There was a socialist booth two booths down from the Trump booth. Behind the Trump booth was a homemade sign on top if a sign yard stake that read "My real Trump sign was stolen by socialist vandals."

I'm assuming the Trump supporter was using the label socialist incorrectly. It seems extremely silly to have such a sign at an event chock filled with liberals, progressives & socialists if you're actually trying to convince them to vote for your candidate. I also wonder how it went down when they began setting up their booths & saw who their neighbors were.

Oh, and there were oodles of people with Black Lives Matter signs. That was also good to see. And everyone was excited that the group trying to get rid of trans rights in Washington failed miserably the other day.

That sounds like a really nice pride day, Stripey! Our local one is August 12-14 in Langley, and we're looking forward to it. It's late this year because the fair is happening the weekend before. Part of being in a touristy town, there's things happening every weekend in the summer.

It was nice! Very happy i got to go.

Ours happens in July rather than June, because most people here also like to visit Seattle Pride.

i think it's pretty safe to assume that a trump supporter, like most conservatives in the US, has absolutely no idea what socialism really is.

it does sound like a great day, though. especially since it ended with cake.

Yay for a Pride that ends with cake!

My nearest big Pride was a few weeks ago. It did not end with cake, but no matter, it was a good day anyway.

The anti-Pride protest was all of... I dunno, about ten people, with twice as many signs. I felt sorry for them, really.

Had my 3 momth surgery check up. Everything is going well! The mext check up will be sometime in October, where we decide what alterations may need to be done. (Those would be much simpler procedures, nothing to worry about there.)

Yay for a good check-up! wing2's one-year check-up is in a couple of weeks. I should find the card and see which day it is.

Are you able to move and lift things without too much strain?
