It is. Personally though what scares me more is that I think the man would truly set himself up as dictator for life if he could. Well, not just that he would but that he wants it.

and apparently, no sooner had the compromise been announced than the white house started trying to undermine it - they are now saying duncan hunter still feels that defendents shouldn't be allowed to see classified docs, and as chair of the house armed services committee, his opinon should be taken into account (never mind that there are already methods in place to present the defendent with digests of such material, so they can't see actual classified stuff). and it seems bush still gets to reinterpret the geneva convention any way he wants.

i didn't hear that

i heard he doesn't get to reinterpret the convention commitments... he does get to set punishments for violating those conventions to nil

Then, uhm, what's the point of having the conventions in the first place, if there's no consequences to breaking them? [/obvious question]
