Seymour's eyes in panel 4 are just plain scary.

This strip is really awesome.

And yeah, I'm guessing that Seymour is really improving. Even without his... ulterior motivations, I think that, at the very least, he wouldn't be disrespectful.

This is of course because of the arrow, though. Which gets me thinking, is this 'stance' on Jesus a new thing or did the arrow just make it more active?

or you know it might have less to do with the arrow and more to do with the fact that he had spent time as a demon himself due to his mistreatment of her previously and thus began to understand first-hand that demons were people too? heavily implied by how kindly he treated pebbles when she stumbled upon him, mute and perpetually frustrated, shortly after being restored to normal?

not that the arrow really hurt anything, but all it really did is made him more amorous and... ehh.... relaxed, for a short period of time it seems.

Miss M... I know that you like that idea. I also know that Seymour is your favourite character. But do you really think that, back then, he would have made the relationship "I've been turned into a devil person as a consequence of me being an ass."? (BTW is the grammar there right? (."?))

Dunno, perhaps I'm wrong and I do like the idea that he earned that character development, but I think that the arrow is the main variable in that. Just like Lil. E evolved as a character thanks to the Lethe, but I'm sure that if he remembered everything his change would remain.

AGAIN, THE ARROW HELPED. BUT NOT EVERYTHING CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE ARROW. He had, in fact, been improving himself as a person PRIOR to the arrow affair.

Again. Analyze and compare the way he treated Fuchsia and the way he treated Pebbles. He treated Fuchsia with nothing but disrespect and ire, he saw her as subhuman, and treated her as such. He tried to police her behavior in the past. Meanwhile, with Pebbles, he had shown her nothing but kindness - though sometimes confusion and irritation with how bizarre and incomprehensible she can be, but never in an explicitly disrespectful manner - and concern for her well-being. He tried to help her, and lets not forget the fact he stopped her from almost shooting herself in the face in her naivety. He was still, of course, a huge tight-ass. He still had ways to go - still HAS ways to go - but it is a step up from his previous behavior. And he did not need the arrow to suddenly treat a devil person such as Pebbles with kindness.

Bomfed -> Purified -> Understanding

The arrow, again, is of course a benefactor in his treatment of Fuchsia in THIS instance because without the arrow he might have had a personal grudge against Fuchsia - because although he treated her in a disgustingly horrible manner, she actually had started it, and treated him just as bad. But she was of course, able to move past it. However, we'd never been able to see HIM move past it until the arrow. So it's not clear how he'd have really interacted with her after his bomfing experience, and having met Pebbles. Because we were never shown such an instance.

Seymour was - and in some ways, still continues to be - kind of a Horrible Little Shit, and that's what I love about him. But attributing changes in his behavior that actually come from another source to something else that DID help, but is NOT the main benefactor, is not true in the least.

You can't really compare Seymour poking himself with the arrow to Li'l E wiping himself with the lethe. Both were instances where they accidentally caused change - but with Seymour it was less wiping his memories completely and more like getting inebriated. He was lovedrunk - intoxicated. He was still himself, had all his memories, his opinions, feelings, ect, but was prone to being more chilled out, relaxed, silly, and amorous. With Li'l E his situation was more like resetting a game and starting over at the last point you had saved.

Since you asked, it should be:

But do you really think that, back then, he would have made the relationship "I've been turned into a devil person as a consequence of me being an ass?"

His original statement was a sentence ending in a period, but you are asking a question about it, so the question mark is appropriate because you are the current speaker.
