Maybe with Jesus, Buddha or Cupid as the counselor?

You silly people there are only 2 ways to proper personify Canada, either A its a lumber jack hockey player missing a couple teeth but smiling and with a good sense of charm and nature and some French but with out a silly accent. Or else you have to go for the tall lean Canadian with the Quebec accent, smiling always polite though with a touch of irony now and then and muttering when you are out of ear shot. Actually you might need to go with both... and then their other brother "Newfie" who always speaks with an implacable accent and is a fisherman by trade but is currently out of work O.o and speaks in strange colloquialism that make sense only to other people in his area.

Sides... that all being said i think liberty would have a worse time if she dated one of the Canadas seeing as how any way you slice it then would get "interesting" fast that french Canada kind walked it's way across the nation to make things so.

That all being said, actually it is kind of refreshing FOR sam to be more open about his looking at pornography online, if you hide it and make it this giant secret it can become this big ass rift. By bringing it into the open now it can be discussed now there can be boundaries established with it that they can both feel comfortable about so long as both are willing to actually discuss the problem and find solutions.

Also HERE IS YOU CANADA! http://travel67.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/6456760-se-470-new.jpg

You leave Newfoundland alone! Sad

She's already tried to have a serious discussion, and was majorly shut down.

I totally forgot that Uncle's Sam's porn was actually exploiting other countries, (edit:) not just women.

Not true, actually. 'Our' porn exploits women. They are parallels, but not unequal.

Actually that's what I meant. Countries instead of women (or men... or kids D=).

Oh okay lol. My mistake! And yes, I should have said men or kids too. I just said "women" cause that's what's pictured in the strip! My bad. Sad

She tried talking about it here too:

http://www.sinfest.net/archive_page.php?comicID=4289

It's an ongoing problem. They appear to have general non-sex related problems as well. Here she comforts him about the tanking economy, and reminds him how he told her he was going to give a voice to the powerless and help the oppressed.

http://www.sinfest.net/archive_page.php?comicID=2972

So he isn't really the man she married - or thought she was marrying.

He spies on her as well, and she makes him sleep on the couch when he's been stomping on and exploiting the rest of the world.

http://www.sinfest.net/archive_page.php?comicID=3274

So this isn't just about porn.

Reposting for easy viewing. Sam's being a pretty big jerk here.

Those earlier strips are prime example of why I don't think these past two comics have been about porn or women. Sam and Liberty have always represented ideologies much greater than any one individual aspect of society.

Sex and Pornography in the past, when associated with Sam, has always been about something MUCH larger than just female exploitation. It's always been about the exploitation and manipulation of entire populations, not just a small subsection of it. Tat uses females as a mode to get the point across but it's always been about the whole: male, female, children, everyone.

Edit: Sorry I should clarify, it's not about porn (porn is simply the medium used to get the message across) but it does include women in the message just like it includes men as well.

Thanks for reposting that. I'm not able to post images on an ipad for some reason.

Arthain, I don't understand why you think these strips have nothing to do with porn or women.

It's because of what Sam and Liberty represent. Despite their 'male' and 'female' appearance they represent both genders equally. They're actually gender neutral characters once you get past their looks. That's why I don't believe this is about female and porn. Sam and Liberty are essentially genderless entities that are the representation of ideologies that do not differentiate between an individuals gender.

Porn has frequently been used as a medium to get a message across even when the message doesn't have any sexual connotations in it.

When you add those two up I just have difficulty seeing this as a gender issue. With those two there has always been a deeper underlying political message in each strip.

I don't see why the comic wouldn't be interpreted both ways: the misogynist man who thinks degrading porn is an accurate portrayal of real-life sex, and the conflict between a country and the ideology it claims to uphold (though, I guess no one actually suggested it couldn't go both ways.)

I can see where the confusion might come from, though. IIRC, Sam and Liberty are the only married couple we see anything about in Sinfest, so any strip starring those two could be interpreted either way. Tat MIGHT have just been doing a typical little sitcom-strip about a dumb husband that needs to be punished by his wife, but the act of using these characters in any way suggests a more political aim.

Liberty tried talking to him many many times, there was never an effect.
