I dunno...

I don't feel like I should be angry about even that.

Doesn't really matter to me what assholes people are, or how much annoyance they are causing, I don't like hitting people just because they deserve it.

I suppose you could say it's for the good of the community, but that doesn't mean I have to approve of the means.

Maybe I should just stop being such a hippie and eat my asparagus.

What I mean is not anger so much as the community and the individuals within it protecting themselves and the ideas they're discussing from dishonesty, bad argument and rhetoric, and other kinds of toxic presence.

I don't fault your desire for perhaps a kinder approach.

The kind approach is also exhausting.

Ya, it was me. I suggested that notion, indeed.

And in regards to Li'l E repressing feelings of self-loathing and redirecting it onto others... (laughs sadly)

Awww...Li'l E.... Man, if I could do an entire read through of Sinfest, I bet loads of the Li'l E comics would make me cry now.

I just wish we could all get along like we did in middle school.

I wish I could bake a cake made out of rainbows and smiles and we'd all eat it and be happy.

This one also makes me sad now:

Sad No school experience was ever fun - except for college, and that still had a high level of bullshit drama.

A few other strips that make me feel a little bad in hindsight regarding Li'l E are this one and these two

Personally I have no sympathy for this anymore.
The Internet is a big place and there's always somewhere you're better suited for. The worst thing is someone who isn't wanted, sticks around, and complains loudly about it. Just leave.

That all being said, that's not excusing those who choose to be asses. But you can only control yourself, not them.

Times like these I guess I'm glad that I'm very bad at remembering internet names. Someone who was a jerk in the past could come back years later and I wouldn't even know who he was, despite having raged at him for ages. I remember in games like WoW when someone came back online my guildies would spazz out and I'd be like: eh?

I would advise Lil E to just rebirth himself on the interwebs: give himself a new ID and he's good to go. Sometimes anonymity is a good thing.

Sadly I can see a great many parallels between the comic strip and these forums.

There are certain individuals, I don't need to name them because every knows who they are, that immediately go into troll mode and insult anyone and everyone that even remotely disagrees with their point of view.

There are also people that can't even say hi without everyone within fifty threads jumping down their throat, such as Guest.

Now I'm not judging these situations, just pointing out areas where, if you take away the 'innocence factor' of Lil' E, the similarities are uncanny. We, like the people on that forum in the strip, have no idea what goes on in a persons daily life, we don't know if they've had world altering situations happen to them. Many simply judge based on what was said in the past, not what is being said now, and make that person's experience here a living hell as a result.
